I was going to say the same thing...but bob beat me to it. They must only be behind the FT line extended and outside the 3-point arc.

However, I wonder where this "behind half-court" notion started? Was this ever the rule?

Had this discussion last night with visiting coach. He was adamant that everyone had to be behind the half-court line. He finally understood/accepted the explanation after the 2nd explanation.
