At every D-1 game I've been to this year, the announcer has made an announcement that there is 1 minute remaining. Is there a purpose to this announcement?

Also watched Scott Thornley toss the opening jump from the edge of the jump circle. Interesting.

Why is it two points to score a field goal? Who knows why? It is just something they do. I do not know if there is any major reason why.

Peace

My guess is that it is two-fold.

First, it mirrors the NBA requirement that the last 2 minutes is announced (a lot of announcers do NCAA & NBA ball).

Second, it indicates that the clock will stop on all made baskets.
