Talked to the coach in question tonight. It was about as close as I've ever come to getting a "You were right, I was wrong," from a coach. He said the kid did not even know what the T was for until he explained after the game. (whose fault is this?) He also admitted that there was not much else I could have done under the circumstances, but said in this case after the warning he would like to have seen me physically step in between the two players to back the defender up and emphasize the warning. I don't think this suggestion is totally ridiculous, but I also don't think that this would be called for, indeed I think some coaches would protest this (Don't coach my team!) and say, perhaps rightfully so, that this would make the defender back up too much, thus giving the offense an advantage. Upon further discussion of this game, the coach went on to say that the intentional foul call had "set him off" and the 2 calls back to back with 1 second left, on top of the frustration that his team was about to fall short after a valiant effort at the end following an otherwise subpar game, all contributed to his extreme reaction.(boy, what a run-on sentence)
