Ok, this didn't totally happen...but my daughter and I are wondering what happens, if a player shoots a ball and it goes UP through the basket and then comes back down? Or, if it goes UP through the basket and bounces out of the top?
We had a player that shot it up through the basket, but it didn't go all the way through and just came back down. They just "rebounded" it and kept going. I have misplaced my rule books from last year so can't look it up myself (I know, for shame!!). Anyway, what's the call and what is the rule? I told my daughter I would ask at my association meeting, but I'm afraid of the ribbing I'd get! Thanks everyone. Kris3333 |

Since you don't have your book, here's what R9-4 actually says: A player shall not travel with the ball, as in 4-49, intentionally kick it, as in 4-29, strike it with the fist or cause it to enter and pass though the basket from below.

So it's a violation on the shooter? Guess that could be a pretty cool strategy if it wasn't a violation.
Sorry, I'm a pretty new ref so haven't had all these wierd situations yet. I'm sure you all have been over this many times before. |
