JR, I think Stew is asking if a ball that enters the basket from below has to then pass back through the basket on its return to the floor in order to be a violation. And the answer is no. If the ball enters the basket from below at such an angle that it then falls to the floor without passing through the basket again, it is still a violation.

The violation is for passing through from below; not for re-entering the basket.
