Talk to the AD of a local HS or check with your state HS Activities Association. NFHS.org has a link to all states. Look at my web site under FAQ. You may want to go to a college game and talk to the officials. All college officials got their start in High School. I could almost always catch the officials leaving games if I waited 20 minutes.

I am a college student in New Jersey. Along time ago, i realized that I wanted to officiate basketball, but I know nothing about going about it. I want to know what I have to do to become a ref. Are there schools? And if so, Where? Please help me out. I love basketball, and would love to have a career in it. Please send responses to [email protected]
Thank you. PS Charles Barkley Rules! |

LTrain:
another great training organization is IAABO, International Association of Approved Basketball Officials, who I have been associated with since 1974, my first year. send me the county you live in and I will point you to the nearest local board. you can access their website at www.iaabo.org (email: [email protected]) they are dedicated to teaching the new official the proper way to officiate and do a great job at it. bruce s. |
