rainmaker,
That is an amusing little story and I'm sure that as a parent you enjoyed the whole scene. I wonder if you look at it a bit differently now that you are part of the officiating community.
Specifically, it is this part that I noticed:

By this time, one clever little player on Team A realized what was going on, grabbed a teammate and hustled across the floor. She stepped out, grabbed the ball, passed it inbounds to the teammate, who shot an easy three points.
In light of the rule JR quoted above, do you believe that this action was legal?
In her sitch, she said Team A was in their huddle. How do you know whether that huddle was held on or off the floor?
I don't. Maybe Juulie will tell us, if she remembers that fine of a detail. The only clue that I have from context is:
Based upon her stating that she was not yet officiating, this incident must have occurred about 7 years ago. That is right about the time that NFHS introduced the 20 second time-out. Perhaps you can specify the exact year that rule came in and if a team had to remain standing during the TO that first year. I can't recall.
