Let's say that A1 is on a fast break and no one is near him. He goes up for a layup but while in the air he fumbles the ball and recovers it right before he lands (still in the air). Is this a travel or nothing? Would it matter if he recovered the ball after he landed? Would the ball have to hit the ground first? What if the player was jumping to pass?

I think this is a travel b/c once you pick up your pivot foot the only thing you can do is pass or shoot. But, at the same time you are always allowed to recover a fumble, right?

Ask yourself this.

Is there a loss of player control?

I suppose player control ended so this would not be a travel. Correct?
