LOL!!!

Well, nothing would surprise me anymore after some of the things that I've read lately while lurking over there.

It's only available if you're within your cone of taxability!

(Sorry, again, Mark. I'm only perpetuating it to bug Dan!! )

Chuck:

3) My wife helped me develope an Excel spreadsheet that is nothing more that a Schedule C in spreadsheet form. The lines of the Schedule C go from left to right and the days of the year go from top to bottom. On January 01st, I just push a button and every line for the previous year is summed up and I transfer the numbers to the appropriate line on the Schedule C.

My wife and I received the last of our W2's on Saturday, Jan. 31st. During the the Super Bowl's (February 01st) halftime show (we missed the Janet Jackson show) my wife and I used the H&R Block online software to file both our Ohio and US income tax returns. We received our state refund on Fri., Feb. 06th, and our US refund on Fri., Feb. 13th, both via direct deposit. It was the easiest and fastest we had ever had our taxes done.
I keep a paper record of my schedule/fees/mileage/expenses and by far THE most painful part of my year is typing game fee & mileage information into the turbo tax schedule C form. Creating an excel spreadsheet to automate the process is something I put on the top of my to-do list every September and every March it's made it's way to the bottom. Mark, I would be happy to email you a diet coke (or the bev of your choice) if you would share this excel spreadsheet with me....I'll even throw-in a nice decorative gnome you can keep on the rear dash of the Denucci-mobile

Dan_Ref:

Turbo Tax is the worst. The H&R Block software that my wife found was great. Email me at [email protected] so that I can email you a blank copy of the spread sheet as an attachment. The only thing is that I may not get back to you until after August 01st. I leave July 02nd for YBOA Nationals and won't be back home until August.

OK Mark, I'll do that, & I'll check out the H&R Block SW.

BTW, we've known eachother for what, 3, 4, 5 years now? Don't be so formal, Dan is fine.

And enjoy your tournament

I know, it is really comical. Hey, I need to laugh sometime from a hard day of work or games.

Peace

What the heck! I will throw a shameless plug for my Palm software, Assignment Secretary. This works with the Palm OS only.

Keep your schedule, game fees, etc and it links to the Palm Datebook.

Just for the record, I use a very low-tech method to keep track of the work I do. It's called a DateBook, and it has a darlin' li'l picture of kittens on the front, with 25 pages, and it folds into the size of a check book. I write the location, level, time and number of games, and sometimes assignor, and then if I got paid or not. I use my PBOA school list to calculate mileage. When tax time comes around, I use my handy-dandy pocket calculator to add up all the money amounts, and the mileages, and write them directly onto my draft tax return -- the paper version. Add up all the expenses for which Ive thrown the receipts into a basket, and the whole Schedule C takes about 20 minutes. This is far less time than it would take me just to learn to use Excel, or something else, and I use no electricity, and I can do the work anywhere, not just in my basement where my computer is. And it's accurate, flexible, and convenient. And cheap. And I haven't been audited yet, so I'm obviously not triggering any red flags. Thanks to the Egyptians who invented paper and pencil 3500 years ago.

Kelvin - Sorry, all of my stuff is for the Palm. The Pocket PC development is very difficult and expensive, that is why there are many more specialty programs for the Palm.

Not to mention those nifty Arabic numerals, so you don't have to multiply LXIV dollars by XXII varsity games, and enter the total on line XV of your MXL, Schedule C.
