So I leave for camp tommorow after work... I worked 4 games this weekend and 3 for the past two nights.... I've got some pain in my shins (feels like shin splits but not quite) that I havnt experince in a long time. I find it a little tough to run as well. Espcially last night!! I always thoguht I good job of stretching - however i havnt really done much of that the past two nights but this aggrivates me... I leave for camp and stuff starts to hurt... The thing that aggrivates me is I've been working semi-hard to stay in shape and nothings been hurtin me for a long time. Idont want to appear out of shape because the last thing on the brouche was "come in-shaped and prepared to run"

Ice
Aspirin, lots of it
Double up on socks
Add a shoe insert
Suck it up & work through it.

I usually double up on socks but when I wear shorts I wear ankle socks which, when I come to think about it is considerably thinner than thicker socks. Well, othe than that I'm really looking forward to camp. My inserts have been in my shoes since April and are still pretty thick, I may try and stop and pick up another pair today before heading out.

Might be a sign your shoes need replacing...You should be able to get through it with some ibuprofen, not a good long term solution but will help you through camp. Good luck.

You young boys should be complaining

See you there ACE. Get yourself some sports cream. It doesn't smell and works pretty good for sore muscles. Also, get in the hop tub tonight when you get to the hotel. Dring lots of water. It helps get the toxins out of your muscules.

See you there.

Sounds like devdog nailed it - how old are your shoes?? You should look at replacing them...shin and knee pains are quite often caused by the breakdown of the shoe - it doesn't protect your feet from the jarring impacts anymore...try running your hand through the inside of your shoe (let them dry out first of course)...if you can feel indentations from the balls of your feet, then replace the shoes (not just the insert, the shoes)...

A lot of time the shin splints hurt more after than during, but not always. Take care of them after, endure during. You may find that when your body is heated, you don't notice so much. Of course, if you are on-one, off-one for games it will begin to wear. Tough it out if you can.

Sounds like you have good cardiovascular fitness, so you are fit, just hurting a bit. Hopefully you can hide the pain. Can't hide it if you have no conditioning, cause they will run you out of the gym. So this problem is much better than showing up with no aerobic conditioning.
