Early in the fight game tonight, A1 is bringing the ball up the court with solid pressure from B1. A1 extends his arm and shoves B1 out of the way. Easy PC call. I make the call, and A1 stops and looks at me and says, "but he was moving!" How did the myth get spread that a defender has to be cemented to the floor in order to get fouled?

I actually had a question on this topic that i was going to post later on.

But here's a great place to do it.

If the ball carrier is pushing off or holding the defender, even though the defender doesn't have legal guarding posistion, is it still a player control foul. I only thought that guarding posistion applied to block/charge rule. But a lot of coaches seem to think otherwise. I'm just wondering if i'm wrong or if they are?

To me, the ball handler loses a lot of the benefits of having the ball when he uses his off hand to push or hold the defense. I like it when it happens, because it makes for an easy call for me. PC *almost* every time.

Same way with the screens. How many times especially in the girls games do we hear that's an illegal pick/moving screen.

Sure it could be, but many times the girl has good position and then as she rolls for the ball, the coach wants to have a moving screen called.

Thanks
David
