Following a time out team A breaks huddle with only 4 players (unintentionally). Play resumes, Team B scores, Team A takes ball out of bounds, heads back down the floor and then A5 returns to the floor. A5 was a player on the floor prior to the time out.
What do you have? |
|
|||
NFHS
You have a T on A5 for entering the court illegally (without being beckoned) if it is recognized before the ball becomes live following the first dead ball. By rule. 10-2 (case book 10.2.2) Counting players will eliminate this problem, but sometimes it does happen. |

Under NFHS rules it is a TEAM technical foul. The correct case book play is 10.1.9, rules book cite 10-1-9, and the proper reason for the T is that the team failed to have all five players return to the court at approximately the same time following a time-out.
