I keep finding myself wrestling with this problem. I keep forgetting what penalties may be assessed for certain kinds of fouls. Even if I look it up under Rule 9 and 10, just slips my mind from time to time. So maybe if I saw it in a different format (here) it would stick a lot better.
To my understanding: Personal/Common Foul: Possession or 1-3 Free Throws Team Fouls: 1and1 at 7; 2 Free Throws on 10 Intentional Foul: 2 Free Throws (clear lane?) & Possession Flagrant Foul: 2 Free Throws (clear lane?) & Possession and/or ejection Technical Foul: 2 Free Throws Cleared Lane & Possession and/or ejection. Please correct if im mistaken! Thanks!

First, my assumption is NFHS. If so, you are generally correct.
You left out player control fouls, which are a kind of personal foul resulting in possession only - you probably knew this anyway. Flagrant is always ejection - there is no and/or. There are flagrant technical and flagrant personal fouls, each with the same penalty. so if by ejection under technical you were referring to flagrant Ts, the and/or for ejection is correct. I don't have access to my rules right now, but I believe that regular player technical leads to disqualification on the second offense - I believe this is different than ejection but maybe I am mistaken on either point ![]() |

Just remember that after an intentional foul, the throw-in is at the spot nearest the foul, not (necessarily) at the division line, like after a Technical foul. And yes, the lane is cleared. NFHS

Disqualified is for players: can no longer participate in the game. Ejected is for coaches: must leave the building or go to the locker room.
