Had freshman girls, one team quite a bit better than the other, but not pulling ahead as much as they would have liked. Last 45 seconds of the game, B1 gets fouled on the shot. Goes to the line. Air-balled the first one. A1 on the lane says, quietly, "Too bad you can't shoot!" B2, next to A1, looks over and says, loudly, "Oh, my gosh, that is just so rude!" I almost laughed! Boys in a similar situation might have had to be thrown out, but from girls, we just get an understatement.
(I went over to A1 and said, "I have an appointment in 20 minutes, so I don't have any spare time. But you're only getting out of a T because your team is 10 points ahead, and I'm feeling generous. Don't ever say anything like that again!" I knew the coach would deal with it, and she did.) |

The Rest Of the Story
Then, the bad team caught up and with 2.4 seconds, they threw the ball from one player to the other on the baseline and my parnter chopped it and time expired right as A3 caught the ball at the division line!

Juulie - reminds me of the 8th grade girls rec game I worked where a girl came up to me and said, "Would you watch number 5 on the other team. She's not being very nice to me."
I told her I didn't know what the signal for that was. She looked very confused.

Had a JV girls game in my first or second year - I'm L, table side. Shot goes up, ball rebounds to my side, near the endline. A3 is there, floorbound, ready for the rebound. A4 comes out of nowhere, airbound, and grabs the ball (rebound) before A3 could grab it. Granted there were two B players nearby but I'd put my bet on A3 getting the rebound anyways. (Maybe A4 didn't know A3 was pretty much gunna get the board...)
Anyways, so A4 lands and then seems to notice, only then, that A3 was there. So before she outlets the ball or dribbles away from the endline, she looks up to her teammate and says, "Oh, sorry." I realized then that girls ball and boys ball is sometimes different. |
