Why is it not your call?

You give him first crack. If it doesn't get it, you go get it. The important thing is to get it right. Did you?

Further, why do you feel there's a need to tell the coach that it's not your call? She's not asking, why would you want to offer such?

Also, why does it matter that you couldn't see the offensive player? Could you see the defender? If you're refereeing the defense, I don't see that it matters that you can't see the offensive player. JMHO

Sorry but I don't understand what you're thinking with regard to this entire situation. Just asking questions to get you thinking about it.
