I got my first big break today! 2nd year official, North Central Fl. Was assigned to the Freshman boys game of a huge rivalry (both state contenders at the V level). Had a good game, and as I headed into the locker room, one of our supervisors approached me and asked me if I would like to fill in for a sick person and do the Varsity game (he was working the game as well)! I gladly accepted and worked with two very good officials. As expected, the gym was packed from wall to wall on both sides with cops everywhere. Had a solid pregame and went over good specifics about the tendencies of both teams. High octane, fast paced game. Indeed, just as expected was a very close ballgame (3 point margin) until the last buzzer. Very good flor by both players and officials. Physical game, but that just happened to be the flow. Overall an awesome night and my best officiating experience to date!!!!!

Congrats! Many of us have dreams about a night like yours. Savor it, and build on it. Nice job.

Wow, gator, great job! Your guardian angel was really on the job, eh? The way to move up fast is to have a little luck, and then take full advantage of it. I'm sure if your assignor thought you weren't up to it, he'd rather have worked two-whistle, so you can take this as a real pat on the back.

Just remember, don't brag. When the Virgin Mary (who was after all the mother of God Himself) was told about the great mission she was to carry out, she "savored these things in her heart." and that's what you can do to. Feel great, and let the feelings show, but don't act like that D1 guy in another thread who was doing all the obnoxious show-off stuff. Then you will be a welcome partner in any game.
