Apparently if it's around the head, as opposed to being around the hair, it's illegal. I don't understand it, and I don't check. But that's what we were told.
Okay, I can live with that. I seem to remember that being mentioned a couple of years ago, but the way I read it, that's contrary to the rule. But I'm just having trouble picturing what BOBBYMO is talking about.
Okay, you take the roll of pre-wrap, and you unwind about 15 inches or so. Okay, you don't, but that player over there does. She tears off the length, puts the center of it at the top of her head and pulls the lengths down behind her ears, then ties the ends at the nape of the neck. If she pulls it very tightly at all, which she does to make it effective, it rolls up into a sort of string, which has a little bit of traction and holds all the short ends of hair away from the face. See?

Rainmaker-
This is exactly what I am talking about. I have seen it a million times at both the high school and college level and this past Friday was the first time I had ever seen anyone mention that it was illegal.

Okay, I'm as dumb as Chu,...er, I mean, a rock, I guess, but I have no idea what pre-wrap is. :o

Are we talking about the stuff you, well maybe not you, wrap your ankle with before you tape it?

In the immortal words of Forrest Gump, "I may not be a smart man, but I know what pre-wrap is!" Or something like that.

To answer your question directly, Tony, yes.

In Iowa they addressed this at the girls' rules meeting. Everything (rubber bands, prewrap etc.) is considered a headband and falls uunder 3-5-2. We were told to let it go as long as the entire team was wearing the same thing. I can see where you could rule these illegal under 3-5-2 as "head decorations and headwear". So far this season I have allowed them.

Thanks for the link. Do you or bob jenkins have any clue WHY it would be illegal?

BOBBYMO Fri Dec 05, 2003 10:06am
