In football, we have "sideline warnings" and a deeper sideline area that we use to keep coaches and players (who aren't in the game) of the field. What do you allow on the basketball court and how do you go about controlling it?

It's call a bench and a coaching box. Everyone sits and only the coach can stand if there is a box.

Contrlling is easy, just give a T sign with the hands and they get the message. This after a warning that if they don't sit they will get the technical.

Really - The mentality of basketball is that you must sit and the only “problem” is a coach that likes to wonder all over the court.

I didn't think you'd have any problems with players, but I know you must with coaches. I'm a wing official in football, so one of my responsibilities is keeping everyone off the field. I just always wondered what you did to keep the coach off the court. I've seen many repeat offenders. I suppose it's a T if they're on the court when the players come down?

Yes, and if it happens twice, your problem goes away - literally.
