I'm trying to find a definition for 'palming' especially as it relates to the NBA.

Does anyone know a definition or a source for defining a palming violation?

I know palming can be called when the player moves his hand underneath the ball in between two dribbles.

What about when a player 'freezes' the ball so to speak. Thats the part I'm after. The hand doesn't go under, but there is a definite delay before dribbling again. I can't find Info anywhere.

That doesn't really qualify as a "Slappy".

When the real "Slappy" answers his own questions, he usually gets them wrong!
