The first game of basketball was played on December 21, 1891 at the International Young Men's Christian Association Training School (now Springfield University) in Springfield, Massachusetts.

The Official Scorebook shows:

Referee: Mark T. DeNucci, Sr.

Umpire #1: BillyMac

Umpire #2: Jeffrey Rutledge

MTD, Sr.
