No working Shot Clocks

Did anyone watch the San Diego St/Fresno St game on ESPNU last night. For the last 5 minutes or so there were no working shot clocks so they had to keep it at the scorers table and have the PA announcer give out the time remaining. IN all seriousness what is the procedure if BOTH shot clocks fail

I have heard of a local D3 game where one clock worked, the other didn't; the R said the bench of the team with the ball could count out loud, in unison, from 10 down, but the defensive team could not "counter-count."

That's what I have done in the few instances where this has happened.

It's not a T, as long as the clocks were working properly at the start of the game.

Here's a NCAAW interp on the issue:

DATE:

1/23/2018

RULE:

Rule 1-19.2 / Rule 1-19.3

QUESTION:

Rule 1-19.2 states: Two visible shot clocks are required, and shall be recessed and mounted on the backboard supports behind each backboard.

Question: If two visible shot clocks are recessed and mounted on the backboard supports behind each backboard but are malfunctioning prior to the start of the game and the home team is in compliance with Rule 1-19.3 prior to the start of the game, is this an administrative technical foul against the home team?

ANSWER:

When one or both shot clocks fail to properly function before the game, an administrative technical foul shall be issued. When one shot clock is functioning, that device will be used; when both fail, an alternate device must be used. When the game starts with two functioning devices and then one or both clocks fail, no administrative technical foul shall be issued. If one clock works, that will be used; when they both fail, an alternate timing device shall be used.

Usually an alternate timing device kept at the table is standard in our area for high school. This does happen at least once a year. The clock person yells out at set intervals the time left

I've seen college shot clocks malfunction twice in my time as a statistician. Both times were on the road, for what it's worth.

In one instance, it happened during the game before ours at a tournament, I believe the PA announcer would call out 30-15-10-5-0 as appropriate. I don't recall if they shot clocks got fixed before our game or if we went through the same protocol.

In the other case, in a game played years later, the upper half of the seven-segment LED numbers in either shot clock wouldn't light up. The officials directed the PA announcer to announce when the shot clock was down to 10. Amazingly, that only happened once for the entire game.
