NCAA Vid Request - Fri 3/16 - UMBC vs VA - Ref steps towards mouthy player

With 5:15 left in second half, a Va player is called for a foul. Va player wanted a travel call. He is not happy and screams at ref who steps diligently toward player. No T given but should there have been? Traveling?

No. This was situational. Official gave a little frustration slack owing to the looming reality of Virginia becoming the first ever 1 seed to lose to a 16. Excellent restraint.

The F1 call a few minutes later was outstanding.

I Saw the play.... I think the ref did the exact right thing the exact right way....

By the way is UMBC really a D1 school? There are a whole lot a of brackets that just got shot to heck.... That’s why we play the games and ref them all the same way....

I went to a camp there once. You wouldn’t believe it when you’re in their gym. It’s pretty small. And Lordy you oughta see their practice gym. Dank and old.

All that said, they are now this year’s Florida Gulf Coast. Go Retrievers!

That was an awesome win! A very tough 16 seed, speed, enough size, outside shooting and team rebounding. VA was totally out of sorts.

(Nothing at all wrong with what the ref did)

btw, speaking of another game. Witcha St vs Marshall. That was extremely frustrating watching the end drag like that. Sorry, you do not need to get the call right as the color commentator said. After a while it becomes ridiculous and it ruins any flow the game had. The reviews take way too long. And then at the end they probably got the call wrong. I know this was in the other thread about the end of game things, but geez with the reviews, fouling, etc, the games become way too much of a chore to watch. I'd like to see some rule changes.
