And, it's hard to really find anything we can learn from this -- other than maybe to always be ready for it, especially from the opposite side

I think there is something to be learned....don't call it if you're straightlined with what needs to be seen. Trust your partner with the better angle to get it.

Either way I don't think I'd have a whistle on this play. I like to know what happened instead of guessing as to what happened, and this is so close I'd be guessing.

Does the benefit of the doubt go to the offense (deecee) or the defense (Bryan)? Has any of the rule-making bodies made a statement on that?

I'm saying that if it's close like this the expectation is go with the offense getting the benefit of the doubt. Not saying that all 50/50 calls have to go the offenses way, just that the expectation is that it will. Either is right in my book, I tend to lean towards the offense I find.

I would want to see the violation, not guess that there is one. I'm sure we've all seen things that were probably a foul, but we didn't see the actual contact so we don't blow our whistle.

So, in this case, if you want to say the benefit of the doubt goes to the offense then so be it.

Around :35 is the decisive angle for me--behind the bucket. I see the ball graze the glass a split-second before the St. John's player gets it.

In real time, though, the ref is gonna piss off one team no matter what.

The overhead replay from the camera behind the backboard shows the ball touching glass a millisecond before B1 touches it.

Nice job by the official.
