I was doing an 18U Rec league last night and the kids were actually using the expression as they practiced and shot around before the game. Practice?! Drove me insane.

Thankfully, it never really came up in the game.

I about whacked a kid last night who kept yelling it from the bench. I've noticed it in the past, but it's never really bothered me. Now, every time I hear it, I want to tell them that their parents don't love them. I think I'm in need of a break from high school kids for a while or something.

You are not getting cranky. On the other hand I AM old and cranky. That said, today's players, not all player, but a small but significant just don't know how to keep their mouths shut and play the game. When I played in the 1960s my HC would have benched just for looking at an official cross-eyed. Different times and generations.

I always laugh when kids say "and one!" and miss the shot. I usually look around and pretend I'm just really old and don't understand and say "I'm confused, don't you have to make the shot for it to be an 'and one!'"?
