NFHS New Stand-up Collar Referee Jacket

I saw there is a new Jacket for NFHS (state-specific) officials. From what I can tell, it looks suitable for pre-game, but there are some differences. The collar is popped and cuffs (sleeve and bottom) look different.

Does anyone know if it is to replace the existing standard jacket, be an alternative choice, or not to be used for pre-game at all?

It's an option here in Ohio (the version with the state assoc logo) but it's not required - you can use the older, standard pregame jacket if you wish. It's just an option.

It is strictly an association choice in Virginia. There is no standard high school jacket. One of my high school associations uses a jacket like the one you pictured.

Some even use the 1/4 zip style. Nothing really standard -- so check you local association.

Honestly, I wish they'd just get rid of them entirely.

The scuttle butt here in the Great Stats of Ohio is that it will be mandatory next year.

I can't say it's required here in central Ohio, but I wouldn't want to be the guy that forgot it.

I doubt it will be next year though, usually we get a warning that the new stuff can be worn this year, but your partners have to match and next year, everyone has to have it.

I just can’t imagine anyone beside other officials notices and/or cares whether the officials are all wearing the same jacket style or not.

That being said, I love the new style and wish it was an option where I am. Although I think jackets are unnecessary at the same time.

I agree about no one really noticing, but as for necessity, I work in a lot of cold gyms, and wearing a jacket wards off the pre-game chill.

Stupid jacket. It doesn't do a very good job of keeping her legs and bosom warm. I can't imagine why would she purchase such a jacket? Foolish woman.
