NCAA New Back Court Modication Rule
Hello,
I'm just a regular fan and wanted to know if people out here can help me understand the rule modification for the back court violation. I know I am probably misinterpreting my understanding but it appears to me that if the offense is the last to touch the ball, then a violation occurred. Also, it was mentioned it evens out the fairness too. Backcourt. (Rule 9-12.5). Permits either team to be the first to touch the ball in the backcourt when a pass or any loose ball in the front court is deflected by the defense which causes the ball to go into the backcourt even if the offense was the last to touch the ball in the front court. Thanks, |

Actually, I misspoke. The rule is the same. One interp is different -- when, on a throw-in, the ball is tipped and then caught by a defensive player who jumps from his / her front court and lands in his/her back court. FED has this as a violation; NCAAW has this as legal.
