One and bonus question

A foul has been committed that should result in a one and one free throw taking place. The officials do not realize the bonus is in effect, and the ball is inbounded. Time comes off the clock. The official scorer then realizes the error that was made. Is this a correctable error? Should the team that was fouled still be awarded the one and one opportunity?

You have until the first deadball after the clock starts to correct. If the ball becomes live again, the CE period is over.

Correctable Error

It's a correctable error. It's within the correctable error time limit. There was no change of possession. Line them up on the free throw lanes and give the player his one and one.

So we dont cause confusion...change of possession only matters in this as to how play is resumed after the FT's and doesn't cancel the CE.

Correct. It there had been a change of possession: after shooting the warranted one and one, with no players on the lanes, we would resume the game at the point of interruption.

Which means that, in some cases, the team that shot the warranted one and one may get the ball back for a throwin. Have fun dealing with the opposing coach in that situation.

"Because you guys screwed up, they get the free throws and they get the ball back?"
