Question on chopping clock in 3 person mechanics

When the ball is being thrown in under the basket in the frontcourt, should the L or T chop the clock? I have always thought the L should chop the clock but have seen a couple of occasions where the T has done it. Is this a women's college mechanic?

Both in NCAAW (and in some states' versions of FED mechanics).

The L is primarily responsible for chopping, but (in my area, at least) the T mirrors for the purpose of helping the time keeper to know when to start the clock as well as having the benefit of being where the ball ends up being inbounded on many occasions.

Unless I am mistaken, this is actually the proper NFHS mechanic; the T mirrors the L's chop on all throwins adminstered by the L. This for both 2 person and 3 person.

The NF has been using this mechanic for about 8 years or longer if I recall. CCA Men's has been using this mechanic before that time, so this is not just a women's mechanic.

Peace

You mirror the chop on every L throw-in under all three mechanics sets.

Sometimes if it's a college game using PTS the T won't mirror.

And in women's college the administering official always counts and "chops" with the same arm, unless I'm mistaken.

It has been the NFHS, CCA Men's, and CCA Women's mechanic for a number of years now.

We can thank Phil Bova for this mechanic. Phil was teaching this mechanic in his camps starting in the late 1980s. If one were to watch a Division I game, especially a Big 10 game from that era, one could tell who had attended Phil's camps because the T would also chop time in for Throw-ins in the Front Court administered by the L.
