Funny Moment

Had this happen this week in a tournament. Close game in the third quarter and the other team has a decent shot blocker. My kid goes up and is fouled, not the worst foul but a foul, and out of the corner of my eye I see the official punch the sky and I'm like yes great play... but no whistle comes. So I look at the official and see him fumbling with his whistle as the other team grabs the ball and heads the other way.

As the official runs by I say "Got the signal but no whistle?" and he shrugs as he runs by. On the way back toward our end he shakes his head and says "I missed it coach sorry" and I just laughed to myself and said "Fair enough".

After the game when I go to shake his hand he grabs me and pulls me close and apologizes and says he was talking to one of the kids and just got caught with his whistle out of his mouth, which I saw when it happened, and that that had never happened to him before.

Just thought it was funny and the official and I shared a good laugh after the game.
