HS Pregame Dunking
Ive been through the Wisconsin rule book and cannot find a clear definition of pregame dunking other than it is NOT allowed and a technical is administered which starts game shooting free throws for other team.
My question is: Is this a one time offense? (example: team puts on a dunk fest regardless of getting a technical) or does every "dunk" get penalized? Does the HC lose coaching box priviledges? thanks in advance again |

I don't know the definite answer, but I remember hearing a story from about 10 years ago where the team wanted the coach fired so the guys that could dunk we dunking on pre game warm ups. It was 3 indirect T's to the coach and he was gone. I would assume if it was 1 T it would be an indirect to the coach and he would still be able to stand. I don't know if you would shoot 6 times for 3 T's or only the 2.

Are you sure about this? Not listed as indirectly in the table in back of the book anymore to a coach. Dunking dead balls is a player T... I'm pretty sure they removed this as T to coach.....

10.4.1 SITUATION E:
Fifteen minutes before the game is scheduled to start, team member A1 dunks. Two minutes later A2 dunks. RULING: A1 and A2 are both charged with a technical foul. In addition, the head coach is charged indirectly with a technical foul for each act. The two fouls are team fouls for purpose of reaching the bonus. When dunking occurs during the pregame practice period the official notifies the team member and the head coach, but does not sound the whistle. If the game is played in a state which utilizes the optional coaching box, the coach should be informed that he/she has lost the privilege of using the coaching box for the entire game. (10-4-1i) |

It is assessed to the player before the game AND an indirect to the coach.

...and the penalty would be the same as if they dunked during pregame.
