Sorry for the late question on this

All-

At a game this weekend, playing NFHS rules, was informed by the umpire in charge that the fake to 3rd - 1st move was a balk.

I looked but could not find it in the NFHS rule book either as a change or a rule.

So, please- is it s rule change this year?

I have heard MLB is changing it. I have also heard OBR is/has changed it?

Thanks for the assistance

Who ever told you this is still working on his associates degree from MSU (Making shit up).

The Fake 3-1 move is still legal in NFHS.

Sam, he isn't 'working' on the degree, he graduated with honors.

I think it was another MLB ump trying to get some tune up games in before the season started. They have been known to do things like that.

Could have been Lance Cokalinski getting a warmup game in before it's time for his job to begin: playoffs.

I don't go into rumors or discussions at the national level.

Until it's printed and made illegal, it's legal.

I don't understand why it was made illegal in OBR anyway. Sure, it works for the righty and gives him an advantage to catch a sleeping runner. But the lefty has an advantage over the righty on the base pick to one every day of the week. I'll get off my soap box now and get my PHD (Pile it higher and deeper) degree from MSU

I don't think it was made illegal because it's sneaky, or gives an advantage ... or even because it works! Cause it doesn't.

I believe it was made illegal because it's a freaking waste of time.

Even if it was a rule (which it ain't in Fed) why would an umpire start talking about individual rules. Did he go over the 3 strikes is an out rule (I hope I have the right rules set)? Stupid is as stupid does, but I'm skeptical of this OP.

Depending upon the audience, some people have a PHD from MSU instead of say a Masters, BS, or Associates.

To us, this is an associate (because we know the truth), The original poster would have thought he had a BS or Masters, because he came here to question it after the fact.

Just for reference, here's the slang:

A PHD (Piled higher and deeper)
A Master (Master of deception)
A BS (bulls**ter)
An Associates (just that - still learning the ropes)

Maybe it was early in the (youth league) season -- it's relatviely common practice to go over some of the new rules for the first week or so of the season.

Or, maybe he was asked -- we were asked about it by a college coach this weekend.

It usually is, but not always. Ask Brett Gardner.
