Bryce Harper

When did 19 year old rookies become entitled to bang their bat on the ground and " show up" Umpires?
Someone needs to put that punk in his place.

I don't think the Official Rules of Baseball differ for 19 year old rookies.

I also think it is up to the umpire to eject, not some "unwritten rule."

Oh well.

Peace

Coaches, schools, parents and other enablers have made Bryce Harper feel "entitled" for years.

Of course they don't. However we all know that a Derek Jeter or Chipper Jones get a lot more leeway, than a rookie with 6 weeks in the show. At least, I hope you know!!!

I said nothing about an unwritten rule.
If you saw his display after the called K3, I think 95% of us would have given him the rest of the game off.

Scott Boras hasn't helped, either.

He's 19. He's filthy rich. He doesn't drink. He's Mormon.

He needs to get laid!

Didn't take this PU long.

But Tim Timmons might have felt a little sorry for Brycie, who had 5 K's in his 0 fer 7 performance in the loss yesterday.

And 95% of use (more than that but using your numbers) would not have the chance to make that decision on this play. And when you state what you did in this thread, that is an unwritten rule. There is no "standard" that slamming a helmet is automatic for sure. Not saying he should not have been ejected, just stating that what bothers you might not bother another umpire. And I am fine with that reality.

Peace

Barring other problems in the game, I don't think I'd eject for that without having issued him a warning. I'm not one to tolerate much from players either.
