Cubs game umps

Anyone know why they're only working 3-man tonight in the Cubs-Rockies game?

I'll watch baseball tonight and see...sometimes a person gets hurt and they have to resort to three man or...did they start the game with three?

Either Layne or Knight is probably ill. They started the game with 3.

They just announced that Layne got drilled in the ankle with a line drive early in the game and had to be carted off. That'll leave a mark.
I liked the check swing that the plate umpire DIDN'T send out to Hunter Wendlestedt in the middle.....the catcher wanted him to ask, and they showed Hunter just smiling. Wonder what would happen if I did that?

I had a partner the other night that didn't appeal to me when I was in A with a LHB. His reply to the coach, "Who am I gonna appeal to?"

The batter didn't offer.

I thought they had to check no matter how many umpires or where the umpire was. Did he go to the wing umpire instead like NCAA was experimenting with last year?

I see it now. My first thought was a hat or brace from R1, but knew that couldn't be true.
