Necklaces?

I've looked through NFHS and couldn't find anything prohibiting Phiten necklaces (which means I just missed it). This seems to be a point of emphasis this year and removing anything from around the neck. Is this a point of emphasis this year or was it always one?

No jewelry, 1-5-12.

The only exceptions are medical or religious. POE or not doesn't change the rule.

Let me add to mbyron's post:

If you weren't born with it attached to you, it is jewelry. Now go back and read mbyron's post and you will understand for the future.

And, yes, that is exactly what you say to the coach when he argues about it..... if he wasn't born with it, it's jewelry!

For years I always say "if it is not growing out of your body or it is not part of your official uniform then take it off!"

In Ohio....

The OHSAA send out a note to all umpires and on their web site sent a note to coaches saying this necklace is illegal.

Wait. They had to send out a note to say that a piece of jewelry was illegal? Have you gotten the "we can't use softballs during a baseball game" note yet?
