Exclamation The Umpire Life Dream Camp 2010

The Umpire Life is excited to announce "The Umpire Life Dream Camp 2010". Our goal is to provide you with the most amazing umpire experience ever. This event is going to take place in Arlington, Texas in "The Rangers Ballpark in Arlington". Your training and teaching will take place right in the stadium of the Texas Rangers. You will also get the chance to meet an incredible teaching staff that will include three legendary former Major League umpires. Bill Haller, Joe Brinkman and Ken Kaiser will both entertain you and teach you the things that helped them through their 78 years of umpiring experience. Please check out the link below for this incredible opportunity. This camp is going to be limited to only 50 umpires so don't delay in reserving your spot in what is sure to be the greatest four days you ever spend umpiring!

The Umpire Life

Sincerely,
The Umpire Life Staff

Okay,

First of all, hire a webmaster and make an up-to-date web site. It'll make things easier for everyone.

$econdly, how much is this camp?

It's on page 3. $950 + $109/night for the hotel. Includes all meals. 16-20 pros for 50 students. That's a lot of attention.

Thank you, Dash ...

Except, the button that says continue to Page 2 doesn't work, and therefore Page 3 is not to be found.

Which brings us back to my first point, which is, pay the nominal fee to a professional webmaster and construct a modern web site. It's what everyone has grown to expect. This 1998 Microsoft Front Page stuff doesn't pass, and hasn't for a long time.

It works, you just have to hunt for it a bit - kind of like a flash game.

Man, you're good.

I can't find it. I literally scanned every inch of that page and clicked madly, and there's no button. And then, where's the expectation of finding the button to go to page 3 to get the information?

This is like a blast from the past. I'm looking back with fondness to the days when I first discovered the web and what the web sites were like back then. What fun this is!

It's in the center of the page, embedded in the last line of the text. You have to hunt around with the mouse to find the (very small) link to the next page. Once you get there, going to page 3 is a piece of cake.

Thank you, man.

I'm not in some time warp, right? This is damned near 2010?

I saw that embedded link in the last line of text and I've been floating that mouse over it trying to find a live link and click it in time.

Can't do it.

Then it hit me: They're doing this by design to see who the most determined candidates are for their camp! It's brilliant! If a guy puts up with their confounding web site for more than 10 minutes, he's the ideal candidate to stick as an umpire!
