I do know that it was not my high school association, because we neither wear numbers or black shirts, plus I didn't recognize anybody. I put a call in to my assignor to see if he knows who these guys are. I'll let you know what I find out.

Dang it! I forgot this was on tonight. I had planned on watching it.

How many umpires did they use - 6?

Turn it on now, it's bottom of 9.

Looks like 3 man. I was watching LL Regional and wasn't paying much attention to this game.

Correction: It's 4 man.

Ah crap, they're using the California Tie Breaker. I hate the California Tie Breaker.

A product of our Little League program, got the game tying triple, and MVP award. He's a witch at SS.

Start the inning with R2 & no outs.

Steven Tyler Mon Aug 17, 2009 01:40am

They played one extra inning. They started with the bases loaded and one out. The game ended in a 4-4 tie after 10 innings. I don't think that is the California tie breaker.

Yeah, for once you are right. Thank you for correcting me. Guess that makes us even for the day.

SoCal has the correct answer on this one. This must have been their own special tie breaker. Hey it's been awhile since I last had a CTB, but it's used here in many tournaments.

The umpires are out of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and provided by Perfect Game USA.

Hmm...I might know them then (since I umpire in CR a lot)...I'll see if I can find anything out.

Why would they start with one out?

Don't they want runs to score?

johnnyg08 Mon Aug 17, 2009 10:54am

yes, but they also want the game to be kept moving, esp when it's a tournament and they want to stay on schedule.
