Celebrate

Well fellas,

The board has been a bit dead the last few days...so I'll throw out my little tidbit of the week. On July 31st I became a 1st time father to our new baby girl. 7 lbs 10oz 20 3/4 inches...she had her 1 week check up today and she's a healthy little girl. So far it's awesome and we're looking forward to the journey. Now if dad could only catch a bit of sleep.

Ball is wrapping up here in MN...time for some off season studying.

Peace,
JG08

Well done, mate!

As the Dad of a teenage daughter, may I suggest one of these, for your future.

The Remington 870 is a classic, and parked beside the front door it keeps the young men at arms length.

My "little girl" turned 31 in February. I still have fond memories of helping deliver her. I am very happy for you and your wife!

I've cried more tears of joy at my two daughters than any other thing in this world. My second one ... the 12-year-old: she's my boss.

You're in for a million warm, wonderful moments. Congratulations!

Good luck on that sleep idea. I have a 3 y/o son and a 1 y/o [next week] daughter. He slept fine very soon. She still has not slept through more than a handful of nights yet. She is definitely fussier than he was.

Have fun.

Congratulations to you and the Mrs, Johnnie.

Just a little advise.

34+ years ago, I made a commitment, that I would never say, I wish I had spent more time with my kids after they left. I followed through with that and they have turned out to be the best. I cried like a baby when the last one left the house and everyday wish, each of them were still home.

Enjoy EVERY MINUTE you get with them and make those minutes plentiful because, before you know it, their gone.

+1, +1, +1 for the above post.

Make every minute count, they go way, way too fast.

Let me add my congratulations to all the others. As the father of two (now grown) daughters, I'll second the above, but if you can't get a home-defense-style shotgun, a double-barrel is a good alternative.

If you want to truly complete the effect, when a young man comes by to pick her up for their first date, when they get ready to leave, wish them a fun evening and then lean down and quietly tell him the Magic Words:

"Just remember, I'm not afraid to go back to prison."
