Never seen this one

This past weekend, I was working some games for the CABA World Series. Had a strange play: R1 stealing, F2 throws down. The kid's got a cannon, and he hits his spot. F4 has the ball down as R1 starts his slide.

F4 gets him on the foot, but the force of the contact pushes the ball through the webbing of his glove! The ball popped out and rolled about 20 feet into left field, where F6 retrieved it.

F4 came up looking at his glove, which had a big hole in the webbing. As we get set for the next pitch, he realizes that the thing is useless, asks for time, and fetches a new glove from the dugout.

Weird.

And no, I did NOT have an "out/safe" on the call. My trainers were more thorough than that!
