Never seen this one

This past weekend, I was working some games for the CABA World Series. Had a strange play: R1 stealing, F2 throws down. The kid's got a cannon, and he hits his spot. F4 has the ball down as R1 starts his slide.

F4 gets him on the foot, but the force of the contact pushes the ball through the webbing of his glove! The ball popped out and rolled about 20 feet into left field, where F6 retrieved it.

F4 came up looking at his glove, which had a big hole in the webbing. As we get set for the next pitch, he realizes that the thing is useless, asks for time, and fetches a new glove from the dugout.

Weird.

And no, I did NOT have an "out/safe" on the call. My trainers were more thorough than that! ;)

Blow your whistle, signal kick ball and put it at the disposal of the violated team. That one was easy....Wait, this isn't the basketball forum...nevermind

I'm not a mind reader....What call DID you make? Safe? Out?

No mind reading required: the ball's rolling around left field, and I made the correct call.

You didn't make any call (which is the correct 'no call')

"No ball, no call."

Well, I agree with all of you, but you persist in saying "I made the correct call," which is definitely not the same as an "no call." That's why my confusion persisted....

Again, I agree with the no call....

And sometimes the right call is a "no call," which most of us consider a call for purposes of describing a play.
