Little league ba goes to 2nd

Batter draws bb runs hard to first and doesn't stop goes to second. Coach from op team says pitcher was on the rubber ump rules because he did not stop the pitcher on the rubber does not kill the play. How should this be called?

Rcichon Mon Jul 13, 2009 08:05am

Your ump

got the call right.

How can you tell?

Why not

Based on the what the OP gave, the Umpire got it right. Play does not stop just because the pitcher is on the pitchers plate.

Pitcher cannot hurry up back to the mound to stop an advancing runner.

The battery must be set and all play must be stopped. Only then can you send the runner back (LL rules) if he tries to advance.

Not verbatim but I didn't think he asked for a rule #.

Lord Byron,
I think, the runner standing on 2nd with the opposing manager complaining is an indication of the umpire's decision. :)

Umpire looked lost so I wasn't sure if he was correct but a thought the call was correct

What does F1 standing on the rubber have to do with anything?

Now, I don't do LL, but in one of my house leagues leading off is not allowed (along with some other restrictive rules), and if a runner is leading off at the time of the pitch he is warned once, and then called out. Generally speaking in that league runners need to started heading back to their base when the pitcher is on the rubber. It is possible that is type of situation the OP is referring to.

Rcichon Mon Jul 13, 2009 11:19am

Well...

In LL, you are "supposed" to throw a red flag...

I have not nor will I EVER throw a red flag.

In fact the closest thing I have is a red shirt in a glass case that says, "Do Not Break Open In An Emergency".
:D:D

PS.: If the runner leaves early, it has to be blatant for me to send him back.

What is wrong with the red shirts? (Yeah, I know what is going to happen after I post this comment) I have 2, and have had nothing but compliments from fans and coaches when I wear them.

And just to really get some people going... I do, and have worn, the OC Red w/Black trim shirt (with black bags, because the red is on backorder, and have not shipped to me yet). I got it when I made the mistake of asking my wife what shirt I should buy, she saw it and wanted me to get. So in the intrest of keeping the misses happy I bought it. I will maybe even post photos of it on here in the next couple of days.

1. Haven't you ever told someone how good they look when in reality, you wouldn't he caught dead in that get up?
2. They are being polite because if they tell you the truth, they are afraid that you will toss them.
3. What the hell do fans know?
