Eet was jou, m'sieur.

What is the most useful piece of equipment in the French Army?

A rearview mirror, so they can see the war.

Let's not forget - if it weren't for the French, we'd likely be saluting the Union Jack, although that debt has since been repaid several times.

Well, heck, as long as we're thanking people: if it weren't for the Spartans, we'd all be speaking Farsi!

And without the French, it's unlikely that the blow job would have achieved such sweeping popularity here in America.

Oh, I think it would have caught on regardless.

The BJ preceded the French. There are explicit scenes in the brothels of Pompei. The Romans most likely introduced the practice when they had their turn of conquering France.

I have looked at quite a few of those murals, but haven't ran across the one depicting this particular act. I guess I need to keep looking. I saw one where the reciprocal was occurring, but that's as close as I got to the holy grail.

Ummmm... might want to read up on your history on this one. Spartans were defeated by the Persians, 480BC at Thermopylae.

And while you're at Google, type in "French military victories" and click the "I'm feeling lucky" button

You do realize that the Persians lost the Second Greek / Persian War and were driven out of Europe, correct?

Tuss,

A Pyrrhic victory, at best.

Not that this is even close to mattering, but I do realize that this happened. All I previously pointed out was that Spartans had little to do with it... feel free to PM me

Tangentially, in an ironic twist of Ken Burns stories, the Civil War was a catalyst for baseball's initiation into the lives of Americans.

The Game in Europe is Cricket

Air Force buddy who grew up playing baseball in South Carolina and went to the Citadel a long time ago passed along the following story.

Whenever the British invited the Americans to a Cricket match they would take the field just as we would in Yankee Stadium. We were good sports and they knew Americans would hit the ball between the foul lines. The best British cricket clubs would clobber the American clubs every time because they utilized the entire field.

Check out the field and the fielding positions: Cricket - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And you might like to look up the details. 300 Spartans held up a Persian army of 10s of thousands at the "hot gates" for a few days while the Greeks massed to do battle. A weakened Persian force could not conquer Greece on that visit, and they were soundly defeated 10 years later when they returned.

Had it not been for the Spartans, who fought to the last man, the Persians would have rolled over Greece, Italy, and west.

Probably wouldn't have had any trouble in Gaul, either.
