It has been my experience that a back-up pair of shoe laces is lighter and takes up less space in my bag, than a spare pair of shoes....

They're in a storage bin in the car and they stay there. Also, It takes 15 minutes to change shoelaces on two shoes. When it happened to me, it was a problem. Secondly, if you have the extra shoes, it'll never happen.

All good points, although I wasn't hammering you for carrying extra shoes; I was just making a point.

You take the cake as equipment junkie. I think Tim_C can retire his-once a year-equipment post and just let you take over. However, just for posterity and history's sake, I still want to see Tim_C's list once a year. Come on Kev, get movin. Before you retire, maybe you can drive around in an 18 wheeler full of gear. Maybe they'll think you are with NASCAR--uden,uden.

But Tim C. is still the king in these parts. I'm sucking the wind of his gear hauler. I've just always been a rotate-the-shoes guy.

Actually I used to take the bus to the games also but, now I just carry my lunch. And yes it is lonely wearing your plate gear on the bus, except for Fall ball. I usually ran into a lot of Football officials all decked out for their games.

Sometimes the kids get really scared and sometimes they think it's really neat trying to figure who I am with my mask on. Probably the best time was when the little old leady beat the hell out of me for not letting her have my seat. Boy was I glad I was weaing my mask and cup. Had to remove the cup though because when I got to the game I found out I was working the plate and not the bases.

Oh, and as stated previously, whenever I get the chance to wear those pink tights , TOOO cool man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In all honesty though I have found that the best set of shin guards one can use is a good pair of ice hockey shin guards. More comfortable and more protection. Just my quirk though.

That may be part of the problem.

I am not hammering you for all the stuff you carry around, but you need to reevaluate the time it takes to replace a broken shoelace.

Over-the calf (knee length) dress stockings go under the shinguards to keep the D-rings off of the sides of my knees.

After the fact, would you pat $6 to make the chaffe go away? Think of it that way and they're cheap.

You could try full length compression tights.
