quirky things you do...

example: As PU, I wear nylon tights and pull them over my shin guards to prevent my pants from getting stuck behing the top pads and making me look like I have on high waters.

I also cut out the toes of a pair of socks and roll them up on my ankle above my shoes to prevent my pants from getting stuck inside the back of my shoes. Especially works well when I call basketball, those pants always get stuck inside the back lip of the shoes.

I would consider at least the first one a usable trick--the second, I can't quite picture.

Interesting tip. I don't think I'll ever do it..but I think it's a cool idea. Do the Gerry Davis shins prevent the high water plate pants

I just use single-knee cap shin guards and don't have that problem*

*If I used anything other than the GD system, I would not be doing this.

I use Fab laundry detergent and do not use any fabric softener on my undergarments. This seems to be as relevant.

I don't drive to games. I either take public transit, walk or get someone else to drive. Mainly cause I don't have a car, but have often been known that if I have a bad game I will tend to walk home.

After washing my clothing, I air dry everything except my socks. Things seem to last longer. I do dryclean my wool blend pants.

I always bring two indicators, two pencils and two pens to the field; and I always bring two masks, two cups, two pairs of plate shoes; two pairs of base shoes and two pairs of plate pants to every game. I once had both laces on my plate shoes break (one after another) in one sitting. I carried my backup pair with me ever since, rather than leaving them on a shelf in the closet. Also, if you don't have time between games, a second pair is always clean and shiny.

I think loaner is the guy who takes the bus dressed for the plate.

I carry two of everything I have broken, lost, misplaced, torn or forgotten at least once. And I always have plenty of stuff to lend to a partner---except cups and caps, baby. Cups and caps, you're on your own. (And hopefully my extra shoes are too big.)
