To the worlds greatest umpire from the region with the worlds best pitchers. You really did miss the pitch about 4 inches.
I belive what the gentleman was really trying to say had nothing to do with a pitch being exactly 4 inches off the plate. Given the width of the ball (+/- 2-3/4") and the velocity at which it is traveling, (90+ you say?) neither you or any one else out there can tell the difference between 1 - 4 inches off the plate. If that pitch looks hitable and is somewhere between 0 - 4inches off the plate. It is a stike. Even at that, after a while the strikzone becomes something you not only see but feel also. When you can see it and feel it, then you really know where it is. If you tell me that attending a camp will sharping the eye to be that exact, HMMMM!!! ROBO-UMP??? |

Strike Zone
Quote:
To make the game speed up! to help the stat's of pitchers Who set the strike zone rules and defined where to and from what part of the rules can you make up for yourself - who corral's the ump's Why is the strike zone defined only one time instead of for each age group that plays ball t-ball thru 13-15 in dixie and where do you find the diffenence between JV and Varisity in HS what about College where is it there.mid chest to mid knees. I don't think all the excuses can make up for just call the game the way the rules say and go on. if the game only goes 3 innings so what thats what time limits are for. I rest my case get the game and the strike zone right and lets get the kids right and then get the mlb to do the same which is taking place now.. ................. |

Sounds like you need to officiate more games or mabey one, and then and only then will you understand what each one has said here. When we live in a perfect world then everything will be perfect. Otherwise get a big Ice Tea, relax and call strikes. |
