Unhappy It's Sad....

This place used to be great...

One could always count on getting some good ideas on play rulings as well as some good tips on game management issues. Now all we can count on is tumbleweeds and the occasional flaming.

Spirited conversation is one thin, out and out verbal attacks are another. I guess in the end, human nature wins out.

Regardless of what negative things have transpired here this site has helped me tremendously over the years, and afforded me the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with some great people. I've met and had dinner with a few members here, seen a few great footballs games with one member in particular, and now I have contacts from all corners of the country that I consider to be great friends. I agree that the nonsense of a few have tended to make this forum less of an attraction to me lately, but I'm not yet willing to throw the baby out with the bath water.

The solution is simple - Stop Feeding the Trolls.

You could check out RefereeOnline, Gary McGriff's site. There you'd see what flaming is all about.

Is the site even up anymore? I'm scared to look

Here's a new wrinkle

The only "trolls" are the ones who put down others to boost their own self esteem. Want me to cite a few examples?

Perhaps ole Gary has more than one site? McGriff's wasn't worth much to anyone who didn't swear. By the time I got there 4 years ago, it was nasty. It became a competition between people who never tired of repeating the "obvious" and their counterparts who simply couldn't refuse to ignore them. The best thing to happen to it in 3 years was having it knocked offline by spammers. JMOHO.

Now, I would like to know how the folks on the basketball side can entertain themselves w/ threads numbering over 20 pages. Kinda makes the baseball side here look like its full of ninnies.

Who writes this stuff?

I'm sorry. I don't really want to argue with you. But (delted by moderator), and it's really getting out of hand.

For your information, a troll is someone who posts on the internet for the sole purpose of riling up the membership with nonsensical, off-topic posts which are designed to annoy and insult people.

Trolls are NOT:

Regular members who shoot down errant posters.

Veteran umpires who tell newbies to do it a certain way.

People on the internet who know about which they speak.

You call the good posters trolls, and the real trolls you seem to defend with your life.

You (seem to be - moderator) aligning with the notable trolls on this board, and have caused people to leave the forum in disgust.

The same thing that happened to Garth happened to BigUmp, Largeone59, myself, and many others. Somebody decided to use their good name on another site and fool people into believing that it was really that person. Horrible things have been attributed to me that I've never dreamed of saying, just because somebody though it would be cute to use my name (along with Tim's) to make vile, disgusting posts that I would be so ashamed of had it really been me.

These are the trolls. Do not for one minute mistake the good people of this forum, who come here to discuss and argue about BASEBALL.

So don't list good, honest posters like Ozzy or LMan, who just tell it like it is. You know in your heart who the trolls are. We all do, and we aren't afraid to point them out.
