Most Unusual Stance
Since most umpires are very much basic in their plate stances now, who do you remember as having the most unusual one? My vote goes to NL umpire Bob Engel. His stance was a combination of the knee and the scissors. He got down very low and his head was the same height as the catcher. The knee behind the catcher almost touched the ground, but was extended back as if he was in an exaggerated scissors. Needless to say he really had his nose in the slot.
