Great feedback from the posts. That's what I was looking for. I don't have a problem with it, but the change is being taken literal by some of the newbies. They are reading it as "guy in the middle has coverage in the cone" period. It's hard to teach a guy/gal to P

There is a lot of things to remember in umpiring.

Your "newbies" are working 3 man mechanics?

Communicate, communicate,communicate, this is a big ticket item for NCAA.
This is a logical minor adjustment, but they (NCAA) want communication on every play. Dont forget Bob, when JJ or I work with you, you have all fly balls.

Sounds like what I was told last fall. Put them on the field and let them "run the play" Things make more sense that way, sometimes.

I was (am) a newbie to 3-man. The rotation, and coverages sank in after doing it several times.
