What's the difference?

I have been schooled on 3-man according to the CCA. I have read the PBUC for 3-man. After reviewing the PBUC, the mechanics outlined seemed quite similar. Am I missing something?

Is there a difference in the 3-man mechanics outlined in the CCA and in the PBUC? Or are the 3-man mechanics generally the same?

The mechanics are very similar, though one will find that MiLB/MLB do not strictly follow the blue book. There are so many options and changes that each crew ends up doing things a different way. AAA has the base umpires going out on every fly ball when they are not in the infield, same as four umpire.

For HS & college umpires I would suggest the CCA book. Several states have either adopted or are reviewing these mechanics. As always, check with your assignor for what is expected.

Hey, Msavakinas...

So did you attend the first week of Central Ohio Baseball Umpire meetings last Monday? I remember that you said you were new to the area and planned on joining the association.

If you can make it next Monday, our resident MLB umpire and association member Tim Timmons is scheduled to give his annual presentation before heading south to Florida. It's always a good session- plus, we get to skip usual rehash of the same old FED rules!
