"That's a horse... call blue!" His opinion. "You're friends with the coach!" Could be. "The only reason you made that call was because you're friends with the coach!" Bu-Bye. How is this NOT questioning his integrity? What a joke! "You're a blind sack of sh... who wouldn't know a strike if it hit you in the forehead!" Hmmm... I didn't tell him not to call me a blind sack of sh.. at the plate meeting. He requested time before coming out to yell at me. He's not really arguing balls and strikes, but rather I wouldn't know it if one hit me in the forehead (which I probably wouldn't since I'd be stunned by the pitch). Guess he gets to stay, even though I now have no credibility, given up any respect from players and coaches, forfeited any control of the game, let everyone know I'm a joke as an umpire, and have now let this coach know his words/actions are perfectly acceptable. I've known those who brag about their vast number of ejections, and I've known those who brag about never having any ejections. I question the competency of both. |

Those with fewer are "LL" milquetoasts who couldn't umpire their way out of a paper bag and leave a mess for the others who come later to clean up. Those who have more are thin-skinned, red-asses who are obsessed with the power of umpiring and think the game is all about them. |

SA,
I asked for the experts opinions, not sure why you responded? just kidding ![]() I can see your points. I would eject for that comment any time I heard it. I see the differences in "but you are friends with the coach" and "the only reason you made that call is because you are friends with the coach" and I hope you can see that also. I understand that coaches need to defend their players and the team. I feel he went too far with his argument. |

I'm winding it once he says "Bull****" if it is more than just a mere emotional reaction as soon as the call is made.. Profane, thanks for taking part in the game today Skip.
Had an ejection tonight for the wiseass 16 year old who wanted to draw a line in the dirt on a pitch that had the corner. Then heard it for about 2 innings from his Poppy. It got to the point where I really had to do some "Serenity Now" just to keep myself focused. But you know what they say, serenity now, insanity later. |

If he came all the way out of his dugout, came up to me, and said "bull****", that is a calculated move on his part. More than any emotional initial reaction. Yes, I'd toss him, especially at lower level games.
If he came out and said "that's bull****" in a tone where nobody else could hear, and I deemed it out of simple frustration, then I may keep him in the game until he says that bit about friends with the coach. |
