Joe West Does IT AGAIN

Well he did it again with another bad call at 2nd. Now I realize that it wasn't as bad as the last time but come on Joe can't you make believe that you enjoy what your doing and move a little instead of just standing there and ho hum your out. Man that make's it so hard to look up to him as an example let alone buy his equiptment. Come on Joe move your #$# and maybe bend a little. And Yes I am a Yankee Fan.

if i'm not mistaken i think that bad call at second not too long ago was by Gerry Davis not Joe West.

Methinks it was Gerry Davis last time.

On both calls the fielder partially blocked the umpire's view of the play.

Infielders come inside on stolen base attempts most of the time.

The "conclusive" replay is almost always the one from the outfield side.

So why doesn't U2 stay outside so he doesn't get blocked out?

In the "old days" the AL umps were outside and the NL umps inside. How was it decided that inside was the better position?

good points...I have never worked 4 man, but what you're saying makes sense when I think about the replays I've seen in MLB regarding missed calls at 2B

It burns my *** that an MLB umpire again blew a call on a steal at second because he was meandering his way over to second, never came set and never adjusted his angle to get the proper look. Granted this wasn't as close as the Gerry Davis gross miss, but the runner was clearly out.

It is one thing to hustle, be in the right position, adjust to get the best angle you can and just miss a call. But there is no reason for the piss poor mechanics mechanics and just outright laziness that I have seen displayed by MLB umpires this year.

Is it too much to ask of them that they act like they care. Well paid professional umpires shouldn't miss calls because they can't bother to get in position. That is what amateur umpires are for! ;-\

I'm waiting for the MLB umpire groupies here to tell the rest of us these guys have earned the right sit in a Barkalounger and call a game.

The lazy umpire last time was Gerry Davis. Poor Yankees. Boo hoo. Their pitching sucks out loud.

So a missed call is acceptable if it goes against a team you don't like?

Of course. It's a long honored baseball tradition.

Never let the facts get in the way of a good rant.

Where in my post did I say a missed call is acceptable? PFISTO got all over an umpire for missing a call, and unfairly blamed that umpire for a bad call in another game that he didn't make. So what, Joe West kicked a call. PFISTO, and any other Yank fan couldn't carry Joe West's jock strap to the locker room. Yankee fans are always crying about the umpires this, the umpires that. Bunch of spoiled fans, by George. The reason they have been losing is not the umpires' fault, it's their pitching, which really SUCKS!

I agree, however, that Joe West is not exactly the poster boy for hustle.

Talking Marketing Ploy?

Maybe GD and JW have decided that suspect mechanics and blown calls will keep their names in the headlines and help them sell their equipment...

There's nothing like free publicity!
